Explain how fraud effects the elderly
What will be an ideal response?
The elderly are targeted for crimes involving finances more than any other victim population. While elderly victims may not sustain any physical injury as a result of this type of crime, the psychological impact can be devastating. The loss of one's entire life savings can create severe and debilitating depression. Many victims blame themselves for the loss and because of this can suffer additional health problems relating to depression such as loss of appetite, decreased interest level, increased withdrawal, and diminished sleep.
