Describe the unison-response procedure recommended for sounding out passage reading and tell why the authors recommend this procedure

What will be an ideal response?

The children sound out passages, responding in unison as the teacher signals. Students touch the letters and say the sounds in unison as the teacher signals. For teachers working with groups of four or more children, the unison reading procedure is critical if students are to receive enough active practice to develop automaticity. Young children, especially at-risk children, are not likely to be highly attentive when they are not actively involved. The touching procedure and unison responding are designed to keep students actively involved.
