Why have beverage manufacturers already made such changes to their labels even though the changes will not be required for a couple of years?
Beverage companies are being blamed for the increase in the number of cases of obesity. There is a lot of discussion as to whether the high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), used in soda, contributes to weight gain more than cane sugar. Studies are being carried out that suggest that HFCS may not contribute more to obesity. Soda manufacturers want people to know the facts about the total calories in their products.
