According to Herbart, how should teachers best educate their students?
What will be an ideal response?
Herbart suggested that teachers use the following steps to apply his theories to
education: (1) review the material that has already been learned; (2) prepare the
student for new material by giving an overview of what is coming next. This creates a
receptive apperceptive mass; (3) present the new material; (4) relate the new material
to what has already been learned; (5) show applications of the new material and give
an overview of what is to be learned next.
