In some cultures, infant boys are circumcised. Explain what circumcision is and why there is support for as well as opposition to the procedure.

What will be an ideal response?

Circumcision is removal of the foreskin of the penis. Supporters of the procedure believe it may reduce chances of
acquiring and/or possibly infecting a partner with certain diseases, including urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases, and penile cancer. Opponents suggest the incidence of these is too low to warrant inflicting pain and mutilating the infant, and possibly decreasing sexual pleasure when the child becomes an adult.
