Explain how restorative justice is used for indirect victims of homicide.

What will be an ideal response?

One avenue is victim––offender mediation efforts between the family members of
a homicide victim and the offender/s. One of the most compelling examples is evident in
the mediation process that occurred between the family members of homicide victims.
In general, family members of the deceased wished to physically see the offender as
well as to gain more information in general and pertaining to the event. In contrast, the
offenders participated as part of a healing process and the increasing importance of
religion in their lives. All participants, both the family members and the offenders,
explained that the mediation process they experienced was beneficial and served as a
healing process.
