Explain why fibrocartilage is structurally well-suited to its function

What will be an ideal response?

The ECM of fibrocartilage is dominated by bundles of collagen fibers, some elastic fibers, and little ground substance. Fibrocartilage provides great tensile strength and a fair amount of elasticity, making it a suitable tissue for providing support, protection and resistance to compression for example, in the intervertebral discs.
