What is the rationale for using spinal traction for intervertebral disc herniation?
What will be an ideal response?
The traction force will decrease intervertebral disc pressure. This decrease in pressure combined with patient position to provide tension in the posterior longitudinal ligament may help to redirect the herniation to the center of the disc.
