What are some of the trends in advocacy public relations?
What will be an ideal response?
Two of the biggest trends in advocacy public relations are the use of social media for government relations and thought leadership and the use of data-driven advocacy. Creating engaging social media content allows public relations professionals to aid their organization in reaching influential audiences, such as policymakers, reporters, grassroots supporters, and other online stakeholders. Social media can also be used to elevate an organization’s policy expertise around an issue, establishing the organization as a thought leader in that space. Using data to target an organization’s advocacy efforts can greatly improve key performance metrics. Coupling these two factors increases the likelihood of an advocacy win. Big data also allow organizations to find potential advocates, increase advocacy action rates, target specific lawmakers, and help move advocates further along the engagement continuum.
