Objects of a virtual world can only interact through messages: requests and instructions that are passed between the system and the outside world or among the system's components. Dynamic modeling must show not only who interacts with whom and how, but in what order. To satisfy the requirements and the objectives of the system, actions – both individually and in groups – must obey rules of precedence: objects are not free agents and cannot act randomly or at will.
