What is a brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER) and what is it used for?

What will be an ideal response?

BAER analyzes the brain's response to sounds. The patient listens as an audiometer produces a series of clicks. Electroencephalography (EEG) is performed at the same time. A lesion or tumor in the auditory cortex of the brain or on the vestibulocochlear nerve will produce an abnormal BAER.
