What will be an ideal response?

Edema occurs when fluid accumulates in the interstitial fluid, leading to a generally noticeable swelling. Edema can result from a number of causes, including a rise in hydrostatic pressure, as seen with hypertension; a decrease in the return of venous blood to the heart; a reduction in colloid osmotic pressure; removal of lymphatic vessels; or the release of inflammatory mediators.
