Memorizing is not learning. Discuss the four levels of memory and identify what is needed to move from one level to another.

There are four levels of memory. The first level is short-term memory, which is only good for five to eight seconds. The second level is the cramming memorization level, which is for short-term recall. The third level is for effective recall, and the fourth level is long-term memory or background knowledge. To move from one level to the next, there needs to be time and repetition. This is why studying a little each night is much better than cramming the night before an exam.
