Explain the relationship between cognitive distortions and irrational beliefs.

What will be an ideal response?

These are harsh and rigid rules we carry about how the world should work and how people should behave. These assumptions affect how we perceive situations, sometimes causing distortions in our thinking and interpretation of facts.
