How do mammals respond to cold stress?

What will be an ideal response?

Blood flow is directed away from the skin and toward the core. Hair can be fluffed up to create a dead space, which slows heat loss. Vasoconstriction of arterioles in the skin reduces heat loss. Shivering increases heat production as does increased mitochondrial metabolism in brown fat.
