What is the Session menu? When and where does it appear? How do you use it?

What will be an ideal response?

The Session menu appears on the Password screen when the system has
more than one desktop environment installed. It allows you to specify
which desktop you want to run. After clicking your name on the Login
screen, gdm displays the Password screen. Click the word Session to display
the Session menu, click the desktop you want to run, enter your password,
and press RETURN to log in using the desktop you specified.
