(1) Prepare yourself in advance by knowing what questions you want to ask and what information you want to provide before you dial the number. (2) Speak clearly and maintain a positive frame of mind. (3) Speak at a moderate volume. (4) Introduce yourself and ask to "please" speak with the appropriate person. (5) Always thank the person answering the phone for transferring your call, taking a message, or providing information. (6) Ask if you may follow up the telephone call by presenting the company or client with your resume and/or filling out an employment application. (7) Always thank the listener for his or her time. (8) When receiving telephone calls, always answer in a courteous and professional tone.
