Discuss the many communities in community relations

The text note that there are many communities in the broad category of community relations. It divides communities into two main types such as external communities and internal communities. However, each of these two types has various other communities associated with it. For example, the external communities are the justice community, the political community, the human services community, and citizens and the police as a community. The internal communities are of two major types. One type is the personal support community which includes the officers' support groups such as a family. The other type of personal support community is the police community which has a particular culture to it. In each of the communities the police are encourage d to be proactive and open to a particular constituency. It is also implied that effective communication between the police and each constituency is a necessity. The text suggests that membership in each community is highly recommended because doing so is beneficial for effective police work.
