Relate silica content to crystallization from a magma
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: First of all crystallization allows a single magma to generate several different igneous rocks. Minerals with high melting points, have a low silica content, so will crystallize first, followed by minerals with lower melting points (those containing larger amounts of silica). As crystallization proceeds, the composition of the liquid in which the crystals form changes. It becomes depleted in the constituents of minerals that have already crystallized and enriched in the constituents of minerals yet to crystallize, which acts to increase the silica content of the remaining liquid.

High tides are predominately produced by the
1) strong gravitational pull of the Sun, 2) centrifugal force created by Earth-Moon orbit, 3) differences in gravitational pulls of the Moon on opposite sides of Earth, which is due to 4) rotation of Earth and Moon about the Sun. 5) Moon pulling with significantly more force on the closer side of Earth than on the farther side. 6) the Sun's pull on Earth being 200 times stronger than Moon's gravitational pull.
