Compare the placings of market and breeding animals. Be sure to touch on the corresponding debate.
What will be an ideal response?
To place animals correctly, judges must know how animals are to be used, whether for market (slaughter) or breeding. Judges would probably place animals intended for slaughter differently than they would animals intended for breeding. Professional judges disagree as to how much difference should exist between a market class and a breeding class. One side argues that market animals are intended to be slaughtered and such criteria as structural correctness do not matter. The other side counters that a contest represents the top animals producers should be trying to mirror, so structural and other criteria should matter_
