Discuss briefly the adverse effects of steroids on the human body.

What will be an ideal response?

There are many concerns about the effects of steroid use on the human body. In young users who have not attained their full height, steroids can cause premature closing of the growth plates of the long bones, thus limiting their adult height. For all users, the risk of peliosis hepatitis (bloody cysts in the liver) and the changes in blood lipids possibly leading to atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, and heart disease are potentially serious concerns. Acne and baldness are reported, as are atrophy of the testes and breast enlargement in men using anabolic steroids.
