In what ways can you benefit by understanding the history of literacy instruction?

What will be an ideal response?

To become successful as a teacher of literacy, you should familiarize yourself with literacy contexts that will anchor your teaching. Teachers should not only know what they are doing but why they are doing it. To answer that question, you need to know a little about the history of literacy instruction. Instead of being a teacher who is satisfied with teaching a lesson because it is the next one in the book or because you have found a cute new activity to try, you will have purpose behind your instruction.
