How does elder abuse differ from child abuse?

What will be an ideal response?

They are very similar. Elder abuse did not gain attention until the 1970s, whereas child abuse has been in forefront for many years. The physical and mental abuses of either are very similar, as are some of the theories trying to explain the abuse. The one big difference is that financial abuse seldom involves children and is frequently involved in elder abuse because of the difference in financial status.
