Discuss the two types of state police agencies
What will be an ideal response?
The Highway Patrol, which has the responsibility of enforcing the state's traffic laws on highways in the state and law adjacent to the highway. Those states that have Highway Patrol agencies (for example, Colorado, Kansas, Ohio, Georgia, Florida, and California) have state police agencies to investigate crimes in those communities that do not have local police agencies or to assist local police in investigations (for example, Kansas which has the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Colorado which has the Colorado Bureau of Investigation). States that have one state police agency that is responsible for both traffic laws and general police responsibilities include Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania.
