Compare feeding in a sponge, a cnidarian, and an annelid
What will be an ideal response?
Sponges are filter feeders. Flagellated collar cells induce water flow, and microvilli on these cells picks up food in the water. Cnidarians have an incomplete digestive tract. Food enters the mouth and is digested in a sack-like gut. After digestion, waste exits the same opening. Annelids have a complete digestive system. Food enters the mouth and passes through several specialized areas where it is digested and nutrients are absorbed. Wastes exit via the anus.
