What is meant by enlightened employee relations?
What will be an ideal response?
Enlightened employee relations involves a concern for employee rights, especially as to meaningful employment; training, development, and promotions; pay; and health and safety. There is now a greater effort to hire qualified persons without regard to race, sex, religion, color, creed, age, or disabilities.
Other areas of employee relations include sexual harassment, family leave, care for children and elderly family members, and drug testing.
While the courts and legislators are sorting out the legal aspects of these affairs, business owners must consider the ethical aspects. Now that men and women are working alongside one another in almost equal circumstances, an emerging problem for managers is what to do about "office romances."
