Describe the PLISSIT model of sex therapy.

What will be an ideal response?

This is one of the most widespread models used by sex therapists. PLISSIT is an acronym for the following steps:

• Giving permission: for sexual exploration, sexual feelings, and sexual expression

• Giving limited information: about area(s) of difficulty

• Making specific suggestions: such as "homework" assignments that involve known therapeutic techniques such as masturbation for anorgasmia

• Undergoing intensive therapy: psychosexual therapy if problems persist
