True or false. Look at the figure above to answer the questions below. _______ Resting potential is generated only by the movement ions. _______ The voltage differences shown above are measured across the plasma membrane (not deep within the cell). ______

The changes in voltage seen at #2 and #4 in the figure caused by movement of the same types of ions across the membranes. _______ _______ _______ The trace above is following the voltage change as down the axon. The voltage change above is an all-or-nothing response. Different membrane proteins are responsible for generating the voltage change seen at #2 and #4 in the figure. _______ _______ All voltage changes in a neuron's plasma membrane characteristic shape shown above. The changes in voltage shown above are due to the of ions right through the plasma membrane phospholipids bilayer (without the presence accessory protein). What will be an ideal response?

What type of natural selection are the population of voles going through?

A population of voles (very small mammals) live in a shady forest. The all of the voles are a light tan color, a dark brown coloration arises by a new mutation. The darker voles are harder for predators to see in the leaf litter, thus they are less susceptible to predation. After 10 generations the majority of voles in the population are the dark brown color. In the figure above the solid red line represents the number of light colored individuals before the mutation and the black dashed line represents the number of dark brown individuals after 10 generations.

A. Directional selection.
B. Stabilizing selection.
C. Diversifying selection (disruptive selection).
D. Balancing selection.
E. Negative frequency-dependent selection.

What causes the annual growth rings of trees?

Crosses between a yellow rat with a yellow rat

always produce yellow. Crosses between a white rat with a white rat always produce white. The alleles affect the same aspect of coat color. The crosses of a white with a yellow produce a cream. What happens if you cross two creams? What will be an ideal response?
