Slander is a spoken statement of false charges that damages another person's good reputation. False imprisonment is a civil tort in which a person is held or retained against his or her will. Invasion of privacy is a civil tort that unlawfully makes public knowledge of any private or personal information without the consent of the wronged person. Reportable conditions are situations where health care workers are required to file a confidential report to the county health department when they suspect child or adult abuse (improper, cruel, or violent treatment) or when certain diseases are diagnosed. Negligence is the failure to perform in a reasonably prudent manner. Reasonable care (use of the degree of caution and concern while providing care that a prudent and rational person would use in similar circumstances) is a legal requirement of health care workers. They must perform according to the standards of practice expected in their community for comparable workers. Sexual harassment is defined by federal regulations as "unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal and physical contact of a sexual nature." Innocent remarks, inappropriate pictures, and written material can be perceived as sexual.
