Compare and contrast the formation of accretionary wedges and the process of subduction erosion

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Both will involve convergent plate boundaries. With an accretionary wedge, sediments will be scraped off the subducting plate and build up along the margin between the plates, wedging them apart. However, with subduction erosion, the sediments are not accumulating in a wedge. They are transported into the mantle on the subducting plate.
