Some guidelines: 1) Rehearse the speech from beginning to end, not in parts. 2) Rehearse from the time you leave your seat till you return to your seat. 3) Include all examples and illustrations. 4) Use all presentation aids so you can test them out. 5) Time the entire speech, or even each segment, and make any needed adjustments. 6) Practice in the room where you'll present it, or simulate those conditions. 7) Rehearse in front of a few supportive listeners. 8) Don't interrupt your rehearsal to take notes or make changes. 9) Note any words to check for pronunciation or articulation. 10) Jot down delivery suggestions on your outline. 11) Videotape or record your speech and review the tapes. 12) Rehearse at least three or four times, and continue as long as rehearsals lead to improvement.
