How are all children grouped and occupied within the classroom during guided reading sessions? What is the main advantage and disadvantage of guided reading?

What will be an ideal response?

Students are grouped and instructed according to their level of development, and teachers work with each group individually. They use learning centers, which can involve all types of concepts, techniques, or skills; or they may use other independent activities, such as self-selected reading. As a practical matter, three or four groups are usually the maximum number that can be handled efficiently, because the teacher works individually with each group. While they are waiting, the others occupy themselves with independent or partner reading, writing activities, discussion groups, or other projects. The big advantage is that students are instructed on their level and are given the support and instruction they need. One disadvantage is that unless carefully planned, learning centers can deteriorate into busywork.
