How can white-collar crime be curtailed, and what efforts to fight it have already been made?

What will be an ideal response?

A variety of efforts focusing on the prevention of white-collar and corporate crime have been undertaken. A number of key federal efforts have been designed to restore investor confidence and bring order to American financial markets. These include the creation of the federal Corporate Fraud Task Force and the passage of the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

In general, it appears that some types of occupational crime may be easier to deal with and reduce than others. Individual occupational crimes may be reduced by enforcement and protective efforts. Consumer information services may help eliminate fraudulent business practices while increases in victim awareness and reporting can help target businesses and individuals responsible for various forms of white-collar or occupational crime
