When cutting masking, care should be taken when using a razor blade or other sharp object. Sharp cutting tools can damage chrome, plastic, glass, and just about anything they come in contact with. The best way to cut tape on a vehicle is to place the razor where the cut is to be made, then lift the tape against it.
If cutting paper, the paper should be lifted slightly off the vehicle, then cut; or fold the excess under, then seal it in place.
