Distinguish between customer promotion, trade promotion, and channel-originated promotion
What will be an ideal response?
Customer promotion comes directly to the customer from the manufacturer. Trade promotion, in contrast, is directed at intermediate channels of distribution in an attempt to get them to stock more of a product and to commit their own efforts (e.g., sales force) to move the product through the next channel and ultimately to the consumer. Channel-originated promotion events are run by the channel itself, either to the next channel in the distribution chain or to final customers.
