Answer: Hormonal method - Prevent ovulation.

-Thicken mucus at the cervix so sperm can not pass through..

-Changes the environment of the uterus and fallopian tubes to prevent implantation if fertilization occurs.

Intra uterine device (IUD) :

  • The progestin released by the hormonal IUD prevents fertilization by making the mucus cervix thick and sticky , so sperm cannot get through the uterus. The progestin and IUD change the uterine lining preventing implantation.
  • The cooper in cooper IUD is toxic to sperms. It kills sperms.

Barrier method - block sperm from reaching the egg

-used spermicide, which kills sperm.

Permanent method - (sterilization) Menvasectomy- blocks the release of sperms.

Women Tubal ligation surgery or tubal implants block movement of an egg the fellopian tube.
