Describe the similarities and differences between accommodations and modifications.
What will be an ideal response?
Modifications and accommodations allow children with ASD equal access to instruction and assessment and provide necessary supports for learning.A modification refers to a change in what is being taught or expected from the student. One example of a modification is asking students with ASD to produce a different level of work than other students, according to his/her abilities. An accommodation is a change that helps a student work around the disability. It is a support or alteration that allows the student to demonstrate his or her knowledge in an alternate fashion.Allowing a student who has challenges with writing things down to give his answers orally is one example of an accommodation. The student is still expected to know the same material, but he can show his knowledge of the information in a different way.
