Explain what transmission loss (TL) is. What is its unit of measurement?

What will be an ideal response?

TL is the decrease in sound level as the sound transmits (passes through) an assembly. It is a property of the assembly as a function of sound frequency. Its unit of measurement is decibel (dB). For example, if the sound level at certain frequency on one side of a wall is 100 dB and on the other side, it is 80 dB, and assuming that the given wall is the only way the sound will transmit from one side to the other side, the wall's TL = 100 - 80 = 20 dB.
