Describe the typical procedure for lifting and lowering a vehicle on a hoist.
What will be an ideal response?
You should first refer to the service manual to determine the proper lift points for the vehicle you are lifting. Then center the vehicle over the hoist taking the vehicle's center of gravity and balance points into consideration. Locate the hoist pads under the lift points and adjust the pads so that the vehicle will be lifted level. Only lift the vehicle a couple of inches from the floor and shake to check for any signs of movement. Raise the vehicle to the desired height and set the safety locks. To lower the vehicle, release the safety locks and put the control valve into the "lower" position until it is completely on the floor. Push the contact pads out of the way.
