What do sociologists mean by the term social structure? How might the organization and structure of a society contribute to criminality?

What will be an ideal response?

Social structure refers to the pattern of social organization and the interrelationships among institutions characteristic of a society. Social structure theories explain crime by reference to the economic and social arrangements, or structure, of society. They suggest that the negative aspects of social structures, such as family disorganization, poverty or income inequality, disadvantages resulting from a lack of education success, etc., produce crime. Essentially, crime is seen as the end result of social injustice, racism, and feelings of disenfranchisement that rise from existing social arrangements. Insofar as social structure is unfair and relatively unchangeable, it is believed to perpetuate the fundamental conditions that cause crime.
