Describe how children with ADHD might be at risk for developing substance abuse in adolescence

What will be an ideal response?

• Speculation about this link could include the role of impulsivity and risk-taking behavior as well as the tendency to associate with peers with similar attributes.
• Another speculation is that substances help normalize the adolescent's emotions and behaviors and therefore addiction or abuse becomes more likely.
