What are WebQuests? What steps are needed to create a WebQuest?

WebQuestsare inquiry-based learning tasks that use Internet resources to engage children and develop their learning skills. Tasks may include finding information, answering questions, solving mysteries, summarizing data, creating plans, analyzing issues, or forming opinions. The sites are already chosen so students don?t spend time searching the Internet.
WebQuests are created with the following steps:
1 State objectives and goals based on what students need to learn.
2 Find appropriate sites based on student levels and needs.
3 Organize the WebQuest with a brief overview of each site to be visited.
4 Establish outcome activities, and make sure students know how they will use the information.
5 Assess and evaluate the WebQuest, using rubrics and other devices.
