Compare and contrast enrichment and acceleration

What will be an ideal response?

Acceleration involves having students progress through educational programs wither at rates faster than or at ages younger than their peers. Types of acceleration include curriculum compacting, allowing students to take classes outside of their age-range (like a third grader participating in a fourth grade math class) and grade-skipping. Enrichment refers to curricular and program delivery services that: add instruction in areas not within the typical curriculum; use more challenging or complex material to present content; use an expanded range of instructional strategies, and that teach critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Types of enrichment include: curriculum extension (expanding the depth and breadth of coverage of a topic), cluster grouping (assigning groups of gifted students to the same classroom so they can work together); and all of the activities in the different levels of the schoolwide enrichment model
