How does MPLS forwarding differ from conventional IP forwarding?

What will be an ideal response?

MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a connection-oriented communication mechanism
built on top of IP. At one end of a path, each datagram is encapsulated in an MPLS header and injected
into the MPLS path; at the other end, each datagram is extracted, the MPLS header is removed, and the
datagram is forwarded to its destination. The IP forwarding is connectionless, each packet is
forwarded individually.
