What is the advantage of the E (exclusive) state in the 4?state MESI protocol over the 3?state MSI protocol?

What will be an ideal response?

The exclusive state indicates that the line is exclusive to this cache. Consequently, the local processor can read this line without checking other caches; that is, bus traffic is reduced on reads to local data (i.e., data private to a processor). Of course, a bus transaction has to occur on a write in order to update the system.
