Give an example of an early childhood curriculum that takes a holistic approach.

What will be an ideal response?

All activities in the curriculum would develop a child’s physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development. For example, children could take part in a group game that requires physical movement, communicating with other children, figuring out an effective approach, and expressing emotions. All activities would be supervised by the teacher. However, the teacher would make sure to allow the children to figure things out on their own as much as possible. By doing this, the teacher trusts the children’s innate desire to learn, rather than telling them what to learn. In addition, the teacher would encourage a spirit of play with activities to support the child’s desire to explore and discover. All activities would be age appropriate. The teacher would not force children to learn concepts that are normally taught at an older age.
