What is the purpose of the fluid pump?
What will be an ideal response?
The fluid pump does several things:
1. It creates fluid flow and hydraulic pressure to apply to the clutches and bands.
2. It provides lubrication for transmission parts.
3. It fills the torque converter.
4. It circulates fluid throughout the transmission and to the transmission cooler, or heat exchanger, in the radiator.
5. Its pressure operates valves in the hydraulic valve body of a nonelectronic transmission.
