Peer tutoring can lead to increased academic outcomes, enhanced social skills, stronger personal relationships, and greater school inclusion for students with multiple disabilities if it is used correctly. One effective technique is the peer buddies strategy in which students with disabilities are paired (or put in small groups with) with high-status, reliable students who have no disabilities. The students with no disabilities are trained in people-first language and other disability topics and ways to engage students with severe disabilities. Whatever strategy is used, the roles of all involved need to be clarified and supports provided and the peers should not be relied on too much to support their classmates with disabilities
