Why is it important to re-frame stress or think about stress differently? Explain how changing your perception of stress can lead to better health outcomes.
What will be an ideal response?
Emotions are a form of communication and not “good” or “bad” in and of themselves. Discovering ways to make your emotions helpful to you rather than harmful will allow things that were previously stressful to become motivating now. The more you know about your feelings and how to effectively handle them, the happier and healthier that you will be. Studies have shown that spending too much time under intense distress can lead to poor health outcomes and increase risks of “disease of adaptation” such as heart disease and cancer. Leading a life with motivation and occasional bouts of stress that are handled well can increase your productivity as well as protect you from the full impact of potential future traumatic events.
