Compare 10GBaseT to earlier, slower versions of UTP Ethernet.

It took until 2006 for IEEE to come up with a standard for 10 GbE running on twisted pair cabling-called, predictably, 10GBaseT. 10GBaseT looks and works exactly like the slower versions of UTP Ethernet. The only downside is that 10GBaseT running on Cat 6 has a maximum cable length of only 55 meters. The Cat 6a standard enables 10GBaseT to run at the standard distance of 100 meters.
